Extending Starlink Gen 2 Range to Another Building

Extending Starlink Gen 2 coverage into a second building generally comes down to two approaches: running a wired cable connection, or bridging the two buildings wirelessly with mesh WiFi.

Option 1: Wired — long cable run

Starlink Gen 2 supports SPX replacement cables up to 92m, which is often enough to reach a second building on the same property. For any run that goes outdoors or through an external wall, use IP68-rated waterproof bulkhead couplers or cable joiners at the connection points to keep the run weatherproof — running an unprotected join outdoors risks water ingress and connection failures over time.

This approach gives you a direct, reliable connection but requires physically running a cable between buildings, which isn't always practical depending on the distance and terrain.

Option 2: Wireless — mesh WiFi

If running a physical cable isn't practical, a mesh WiFi system (like the AQUILA PRO AI Wi-Fi 6 Mesh System) or an additional genuine Starlink Gen 2 router acting as a mesh node can extend WiFi coverage without a wired connection — though wireless range between separate buildings depends heavily on distance, walls, and line of sight, and may not be as reliable as a wired connection over longer distances.

Which should I choose?

If the buildings are close together with a clear line of sight, mesh WiFi is the simpler option. If they're further apart, obstructed, or you need a guaranteed reliable connection, a wired cable run (up to 92m on Gen 2) with proper weatherproof joins is usually the more dependable choice.
