When you are powering Starlink Mini from a vehicle, caravan, boat, battery box or off-grid 12V/24V system, the DC-DC booster becomes part of the electrical system — not just a simple cable accessory. That is why RCM compliance matters.

What is RCM compliance?

RCM stands for Regulatory Compliance Mark. In Australia and New Zealand, the RCM mark is used to show that an electrical or electronic product meets applicable safety and electromagnetic compatibility requirements for the local market.

For the Starlink Mini DC-DC Power Regulator Booster, the product listing states certification to AS-NZS CISPR 32.2015. This matters because the booster is designed to sit between your vehicle or battery power source and your Starlink Mini.

The cigarette lighter plug version is best for quick portable use from a suitable vehicle socket or temporary travel setup. The 50Amp Anderson plug version is usually better for cleaner caravan, 4WD, canopy, battery-box and off-grid installs.

RCM does not make the booster waterproof

RCM compliance and weatherproofing are different things. RCM compliance does not mean a booster can be mounted outside in the rain, under a roof rack, inside an exposed Starlink mount or anywhere it will see water, dust, mud or washdowns.

  • The booster is suitable for Starlink Mini, not Gen 2 or Gen 3 Standard systems
  • The input voltage range suits the vehicle or battery system
  • The output is a regulated 35V DC supply for Starlink Mini
  • The wiring and fuse are appropriate for the installation
  • The booster is protected from weather, spray, dust and heat traps
  • The cable run is routed to avoid strain, abrasion and avoidable voltage drop
